We believe our Nursery School should nourish the physical, intellectual, emotional and social growth of the children through an emphasis on play and learning by discovery. Our program is geared to a child’s, not an adult’s, rhythm of development. We provide facilities, equipment and programming that encourage fine and gross motor development as well as social and emotional development. By being stage-setting and astimulating facilitator, our Teacher comforts and reassures the children as they mature. Through our Teacher and Parent Committee, we also offer support and guidance for the parents of our preschool children.
We also wish to inform parents that the Glendale Community Nursery School acknowledges all holidays and the spirit they invoke: eg., Thanksgiving, Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Birthdays, etc.
We are a Licensed, Non-Profit, Parent-Run Organization with minimal fundraising required.
The Nursery School will provide a stimulating environment for children through a variety of “centres”. Centres may include, but are not limited to, arts & crafts, sand, water, computer, reading, housekeeping, play-dough, and dress-up. The centres shall be changed to meet the needs of the children as determined by the Teacher.
The Teacher will plan programs in cooperation with the Parent body so that the classroom is best used and the financial and people resources are best shared
We will provide a planned, organized program that relates to basic concepts or themes in a preschooler’s life, such as body parts, nutrition, holidays, farm animals, and so on
We will provide appreciation for the community in which our program exists through field trips into the community and special visits from resource persons of the community
We will recognize the need for young children to be able to relate to persons of all abilities and will enhance the role of our school in integrating children who have special needs
We will reinforce good nutrition and recognize the child’s natural need for extra energy. The Nursery School will incorporate snack as part of its program.
